Membership and Dues
1. Membership Categories: The six categories of membership are: standard, life, associate, emeritus, student, and honorary.
(a) Standard members pay full dues to the society and can be an ISRS officer or Director.
(b) Group level One: Colleges and Universities (up to 3 regular members and 6 students), Government agencies, research institutes, NGOs, and corporations (up to 5 standard members). Group memberships are valid for 5 years.
(c) Group level two: Colleges and Universities (up to 5 regular members and 10 students), Government agencies, research institutes, NGOs, and corporations (up to 8 standard members). Group memberships are valid for 5 years.
(d) Emeritus members must be nominated by a regional representative of the Board of Directors and approved by the Executive Committee. They are scientists who: (i) are no longer employed full-time professionally; and (ii) have ten years of association with ISRS or its predecessor (the group of scientists meeting at the ten, triennial international symposia on regulated streams). The second criterion can be met by being a standard member of ISRS for: (a) at least 10 years; (b) 1 year and a participant in at least 5 of these symposia ; (c) 2-3 years and participant in 4 symposia; (d) 4-5 years and a participant in 3 symposia; (e) 6-7 years and participant in 2 symposia; or (f) 8 years and participant in 1 symposia.

Student membership is limited to 5 years and requires evidence of full-time enrollment. Student members cannot serve in a voting capacity on the Board of Directors but can be ex officio members if so designated by the Board. However, student members can serve in a voting capacity on other committees if appointed by the Executive Committee or full Board and can vote in the General Assembly.
(f) Honorary members are individuals proposed to the Board of Directors by any member and approved by the Board. Honorary members may vote in the General Assembly but cannot serve as Directors unless they also maintain another membership category.
2. Dues: Membership dues will be determined annually by the Board upon recommendation of the Executive Committee.
(a) Annual dues are payable by January 1 of each year.
(b) Only members who have paid required dues by the date of the General Assembly (or by the record date in years with no general assembly) are eligible to vote. Members who are more than one year in arrears for their dues cannot participate in other ISRS activities.
(c) Standard and Group members pay full dues, as listed below and periodically modified by the Board of Directors. Emeritus and honorary members are not required to pay dues. Dues for student members will be set at 40 to 50% of the annual rate for standard members from their countries.
(d) Standard members from countries designated by ISRS as economically underdeveloped (based on prevailing world standards from organizations such as the United Nations and World Trade Organization) may be eligible for a reduction of at least 50% in their dues upon formal request by the individual (or his or her representative on the Board of Directors) to the Executive Committee.
